We set each lens to their widest and longest focal lengths and tested them at various apertures. The crops are taken from the extreme lower left corner of the chart and presented here at 100%.

Zoomed-out to wide angle, the Sony H9 is reasonably sharp in the corners, but exhibits noticeable coloured fringing at all apertures; you can also already see evidence of greater geometric distortion compared to the others.

Zoomed-into its longest focal length, the Sony H9 again is reasonably sharp in the corners, but again suffers from coloured fringing at all apertures. This is clearly one of the weak points of the Sony H9’s optics, although to be fair it does have one of longest optical ranges of the cameras tested here. Revealingly the Olympus SP-550UZ, which has the longest optical range of all, also suffers from coloured fringing in this test: slightly less than the Sony when zoomed-out, but slightly more when zoomed-in.
