Samples

The following images were taken with the Nikon Z 600mm f4 TC VR S lens mounted on a 45MP Nikon Z9 camera. I cranked up ISO as it was quite windy and I wanted to avoid any shake. All images were shot wide open as RAW files and developed in Lightroom 12.0/CRAW 15.0 from RAW to Adobe Color profile with the built-in lens profile compensating CA, vignetting, and distortions. Noise-reduction is set to 0 (even with images shot at ISO 6400), sharpening to 50/0.5/36/10. I applied exposure compensation plus some extra tone, color, or saturation adjustment to produce more pleasing images which are closer to what one would normally do when processing RAW files. Some images are cropped a bit. All birds of prey were behind a wire-mesh fence, so there are some artefacts in these images. But all other images were shot without a fence or glass interfering. Many images show the same animal(s) shot at 600mm and 840mm within seconds, as the teleconverter is really easy to switch on. This gives you a good opportunity to compare sharpness, angle-of-view, and Bokeh of both focal lengths.
