Panasonic DMC-FZ30 wide-angle uniformity comparison

Panasonic DMC-FZ30 wide-angle uniformity test   To measure lens vignetting and light fall-off we photographed a white target with a highly diffused custom filter. Here are the results for the cameras at their widest focal lengths with the apertures wide open and the focus at infinity. The images were analysed with Imatest and the full areas presented here at a reduced resolution. Bigger percentages are better.

The image left was taken with the Panasonic FZ30 at 7.4mm f2.8 (equivalent to 35mm). Here the light falls off in the corners to an average of 77.8% of the center measurement, which is roughly similar to the other all-in-ones. All three beat the Canon kit lens in this respect.

Mean corner fall-off: 81.5%
  18-55mm EF-S at 18mm f3.5
Mean corner fall-off: 68.8%
  14.3-71.5mm at 14.3mm f2.8
Mean corner fall-off: 79.2%

Panasonic DMC-FZ30 telephoto uniformity comparison

Panasonic DMC-FZ30 telephoto uniformity test   To measure lens vignetting and light fall-off we photographed a white target with a highly diffused custom filter. Here are the results for the cameras at their longest focal lengths with the apertures wide open and the focus at infinity. The images were analysed with Imatest and the full areas presented here at a reduced resolution. Bigger percentages are better.

The image left was taken with the Panasonic FZ30 at 88.8mm f3.7 (equivalent to 420mm). Here the light falls off in the corners to an average of 87.6% of the center measurement, which again is similar to the other all-in-ones and better than the Canon kit lens. Note the Fujifilm performed best in the Uniformity tests.
