Olympus E-500 corner sharpness comparison
![]() |
To measure corner sharpness we photographed
our Resolution Chart with each camera set to its best quality JPEG settings;
as with the resolution tests, we used our new Enhanced Digital Camera chart
for the E-500, hence the different font style and size. The E-500 also takes
4:3 aspect ratio images, hence the different cropped area from the corner. We used the bundled 3x lenses at their widest and longest focal lengths and with various apertures in Aperture Priority mode. The crops are taken from the lower left corner of the chart and presented here at 100%. The Zuiko Digital 14-45mm lens at wide angle is visibly soft in the corner at 3.5, but acceptable once closed to f8. Zoomed-in to telephoto, the lens performs much better, just like its rivals. |
