In terms of resolving power, the Fujifilm FinePix F50fd delivers 2250 lpph of horizontal and vertical resolution, placing it neck in neck with Sony's 12 Megapixel Cyber-shot W200. This is an impressive result for both cameras and shows a measurable boost over their predecessors and lower resolution models.

Of course this is a studio test taken under artificial light at close range - and also only examines an area close to the middle of the frame where the lens performs at its best - but it's still a good result for the Fujifilm F50fd. As we saw on the previous F50fd Outdoor Results page, this resolution can translate into finer real-life detail being captured, although the differences can be subtle compared to lower resolution cameras.
