Fujifilm Finepix S9500 zoom wide-angle uniformity comparison

  To measure lens vignetting and light fall-off we photographed a white target with a highly diffused custom filter. Here are the results for the cameras at their widest focal lengths with the apertures wide open and the focus at infinity. The images were analysed with Imatest and the full areas presented here at a reduced resolution. Bigger percentages are better.

The image left was taken with the Fujifilm S9500 at 6.2mm f2.8 (equivalent to 28mm). Here the light falls off in the corners to an average of 81.5% of the center measurement, which is the best result here. The other all-in-ones are close, but the Canon's kit lens trails behind.

Here are the results for the cameras at their longest focal lengths with the apertures wide open and the focus at infinity. The images were analysed with Imatest and the full areas presented here at a reduced resolution. Bigger percentages are better.

The image left was taken with the Fujifilm S9500 at 66.7mm f4.9 (equivalent to 300mm). Here the light falls off in the corners to an average of 91.5% of the center measurement, which is again the best result here. As before, the other all-in-ones are close, leaving the Canon kit lens in last place.
