Fujifilm Finepix S9500 zoom wide-angle geometry comparison

Finepix S9500 zoom wide-angle test   To measure geometric distortion we photographed a custom test chart consisting of a grid pattern with perfectly straight lines. Here are the results for the cameras at their widest focal length with an aperture of f8 in Aperture Priority mode. The images were analysed with Imatest using 5th Order line calculation and the full areas presented here at a reduced resolution.

The image left was taken with the Fujifilm S9500 at 6.2mm f8 (equivalent to 28mm). Barrel distortion was measured at 2.38% which is better than the Canon kit lens, although comparable to the other all-in-ones.

Distortion: 2.9% barrel

Fujifilm Finepix S9500 zoom telephoto geometry comparison

Finepix S9500 zoom telephoto test   To measure geometric distortion we photographed a custom test chart consisting of a grid pattern with perfectly straight lines. Here are the results for the cameras at their longest focal length with an aperture of f8 in Aperture Priority mode. The images were analysed with Imatest using 5th Order line calculation and the full areas presented here at a reduced resolution.

The image left was taken with the Fujifilm S9500 at 66.7mm f8 (equivalent to 300mm). Pincushion distortion was measured at 0.237% which is better than the Canon and Panasonic results, although here the Sony R1 is the comfortable leader.
