Outdoor scene - Canon EOS-350D / Digital Rebel XT comparison

Canon EOS 350D with 18-55mm lens at 40mm f8   To compare real-life performance we shot the same scene with each camera within a few minutes of each other using their best quality JPEG settings. We set the bundled lenses to f8 using Aperture Priority mode. The crops are taken from the originals and presented here at 100%.

The image left was taken with the Canon EOS-350D using the 18-55mm EF-S at 40mm f8; the original JPEG measured 3.25MB. The 350D resolves slightly more detail than its 6 megapixel rivals, but the effect can be subtle. The greatest differences can be seen in the crops of the dome.
