After the A700, A200, A300 and A350, even more rumours about new DSLRs have started. Of course there's a FF A900 coming up, but, that's not all, according to a Dutch forum poster which got information from a Sony representative (so he says).

What can we expect:
- Sony A700x (new version of A700, with live view, higher fps, 14.4mpix, top LCD)
- Sony A800 ('consumer' FF-camera, meant to compete against Canon's 5D mkII, probably with the D3's sensor (12.1mpix), about 6/7 fps.
- A900 (high-end, professional FF-DSLR, to be mostly used as 'Thetered Shooting Camera' (not sure what that means).

For those interested in the prototype lenses Sony is showing at every show, they are expected to be:
- CZ 16-35 or CZ 14-24CZ
- 80-400 f/4 SSM
- 400mm f/4 SSM
- 600mm f/4 SSM
- CZ 24/25 mm f/2.0
- CZ 14mm f/2.0

The first one would seem interesting to me: CZ14-24mm + CZ24-70mm + 70-200mm G, an ultimate kit.

The A800 is rumoured to be sub $2000,-.

Gotta go eat now.

Both the A800 and A900 seems reasonable to me, but the A700x, no way! Razz
that's just too lame, and they will have a problem with the price. even though it could bring the A700 into reach for people like me Smile

This could potentially alter my decision on getting a Nikon D300...

Hmm...

Either way, we'll wait and see.

What would you have in mind? A700x, A800 or ... A900?

I'd like to have the A800, I've wanted a FF from the moment I bought my A700 (why? I don't know). I'd have to get myself a FF standard lens though, and the costs would be way to high.

Perhaps both the "A700x" and the "A800"

Competition is heating up Laughing

If that should turn out to be true, I would start saving for an A800 right away! My KM5D works great for me so the only reason (and a good reason) to upgrade is to get a bigger sensor to get another use of the lenses.

If Sony were to put live view in A700, do you think they would use the same design as they do for A350 or will they target studio work with something similar to Canon/Nikon?

Hi Rune. I think it will be the same type of liveview as there is in A300/350 because they already have developed that technigue, and because they on purpose made a different kind of liveview implementation than canon, olympus and so on. it would make sense to stick to it (:

Any idea or guess when they will come out?

Some rumors say about a probably Sony 24-105mm f/4, maybe G and SSM.

I think Sony will launch 2 FF cameras, the 24MPx and maybe a 16MPx.

Is probably Sony announce a new price drop for its lenses and the June 30th is a day for look...

Excuse my english...

This is a concern of many people, including me, because the viewfinder would become significantly smaller due to the Live View system fitted in. I hope Sony will think of yet another great way to implement the technology in their DSLRs, without having to sacrifice the viewfinder and pentaprism.

There was no info yet on the forum were I found all this. It's all still supposed to be secret, of course, and not too much is made public by those who leak future plans. I think we shouldn't be expecting these camera's, except the A900, to come before or even during PhotoKina in September. PMA 2009 would be a better guess. Still all guesses though, it may be even later if Sony decides to keep these new gadgets in the prototype-form for just as long as the A900.
And yes, the 80-400mm would be a great lens, perfect match to the CZ16-80mm and very nice range. I'll curious about the optical performance of such a "super telephoto zoom", which is what Sony calls it.

Where did you get that knowledge Alex, sound interesting. Especially the price drop, could bring me closer to the 70-200mm F2.8G SSM Very Happy !

More rumours, they're driving me mad Mr. Green .

This time it's more about the lenses. Let's get started:

"Super Telephoto Zoom"

This lens has been thought to be a 80-400mm from Carl Zeiss, possibly with SSM. However, since the production costs of the 70-200mm F2.8G SSM are so high, Sony may introduce a CZ70-200mm F2.8 (SSM), which would be this one. I do believe it's a CZ lens, because it's got the same design as the 24-70mm had when it was still a prototype. However, I find it hard to believe that Sony would refer to a 70-200mm as "Super Telephoto". It's an interesting rumour though, because, combined with the CZ24-70mm and perhaps a CZ14-24mm, you'd have 14-200 all Carl Zeiss. Not bad Very Happy , especially if the CZ14-24mm would be F2.8 as well.

Someone on dpreview.com though this lens looked somewhat like the CZ Distagon 25mm F2.8. Since F2.8 would be too small for modern standards, this lens may turn out to be a Sony CZ 25mm f/2.0 Distagon T*, perhaps with SSM too.

All sounds very interesting, I can't wait till we get some official Sony pressrelease about all these lenses/camera's.

I need more money Sad .

Is difficult the first lens be a 70-200 f/2.8, because should to say: telezoom large aperture and donīt superTelephoto zoom.

And the second I think be a 24 or 25mm f/1.8 or 2 Distagon.

The other prime I think would be a 50mm f/1.4, maybe a Plannar lens.

The A900 is very true. It's a real body and camera.

Sony has been talking about it since PMA 07, and they displayed the A900 Flagship at the 08 PMA.

They said it would be available in 2008.

But it'll be ___ expensive Laughing

The rumors say the a900 will have a price arround 3000$$, if this is true is not bad for a FlagShip FF with 24MPx and Pro body.
