See Sony's announcement of a 24.5MPix FF sensor.
So if the D3x uses a modified version (as usual) of this sensor with 14bit A/D conversion the speed will be 6.3 fps@12bit and 1.5-2 fps at 14 bit . Fast enough for studio work?
There is already discussion whether Nikon will take a Sony FF-sensor for the rumoured D3x / D4 esp. after they developed their own FX-sensor for the D3.
As that technology is not trivial, nikon might think it more economical to start and fill the place with a D3x even if it's not (yet) their own sensor.
Maybe they're still struggling to stabilize the D3-sensor-process...
With a sensor available, a D3x is very easy to build with the same body as the D3 :!: :idea: :shock:
