The problem is that when you buy anything these days it is out of date, The best thing at the moment is that there are bargains to be had. And if you want the bee's knee's then go and buy the E-3.

But I am more than happy with the E-510.

i know, i just saw that new 450D, it looks nice, but, so does the E510, especially its price! :b
i do believe it is a great camera, just as the E410. but i havent tried any of them yet, because im not gonna buy before summer :)

but i dont know how long i can wait..

Ps. How bad is the noise on your E510? have you changed the settings?

I really don't think the noise on the E-510 is as bad as people say. I've never had any problems with it. Even when you do get noise, it's more like film grain than digital noise normally is, and doesn't look too bad. Have a look at Gorndon's test shots (here), especially the ones with noise reduction off for an idea of how bad it is so you can judge for yourself.

We'll have to wait and see - but I do think several manufacturers may be holding some products back for launch at the actual show... and Olympus hasn't mentioned any new DSLRs so far...

But then the E-510 ain't that old...

Exactly what I was thinking! A battery grip would be great, and I would hate to have to upgrade my camera any time soon...

Following the E410 and E510 there was a suspicious blank spot on the Olympus DSLR web page .. which was later filled with the E3.. last I checked there was little if any real estate left for a grand new announcement. There are a couple of lenses due out that have been promised but are not available yet most notably the 14-35mm F2.0. Oly and other 4:3 consortium members seem to have made live the feature-de-jour for the competition but perhaps they are holding back the sub $2000 60mp stabilized 6x7 medium format body and 80 - 800 f1.2 kit lens?

Im getting a strange feeling that Olympus is not releasing a new semi pro DSLR, as the E510 is quite competitive on its own, I have a feeling, with the release of the E3, Olympus is either going to release a Budget camera to replace the E410 (maybe another retro style model with IS) or none at all.

I dont care what they do, give me a battery Grip! Because I'll be forced to buy one from Ownuser, and have a grop that feels very wierd in my hands cause its bumpy at the back lol.

I hope they'll finally release the 'budget' wide angle that's shown on their lens roadmap - it's thought to either be an 8-16mm, or a 10-20mm (possibly the sigma lens reworked for 4/3rds). It's a gap that needs filling - much as I want one, I can't afford the 7-14mm (as good and unique a lens as it is) and the 11-22mm isn't quite wide enough and overlaps too much with the 14-42/14-54 lenses.

The Sigma 10-20 is already available for 4/3.

ps (edit): it's a little strange. The title says Olympus, but at the specification Olympus is not mentioned

mentioned on another site:

Pre-PMA 2008: Four Thirds users far and wide will appreciate the wide angle and telephoto zooms today announced by Sigma. The company's popular 10-20mm F4-5.6 and 70-200 F2.8 lenses have been converted to fit Leica, Panasonic and Olympus DSLRs. Both lenses include Sigma's HSM hypersonic focusing motor

I just read that as well, but this lens has been for sale for months.
Anyway, if not already, it will be!

My main concern with that sigma lens is that its only a f/4-5.6 I want at least a 2 or something..... 4 is a little too slow for me at 10mm (20 at 35mm equivalent)

I dont know, maybe Im asking for too much lol
