Hello everyone, welcome to December’s Assignment!

The theme for this month is "change", as suggested by shallowlife who won the October 2008 competition. In shallowlife’s own words:

"After quite some thinking I have decided that the December theme should be "change", not literally speaking, but in terms of how everything in life changes.

The following conditions have to be met:

It has to be a series of pictures - at least two, but no more than five pictures, and at least one has to be taken in December 2008.

Post processing and editing the pictures is allowed as I believe there is some skill required doing so and as it is part of creating a piece of art. GIF animations are allowed, and you can also turn your pictures into a collage if you prefer that. Again, at least one of the pictures has to be taken this month!

Also please post a few words about your pictures, not just the camera settings used when you took the picture but also what your pictures are all about."

So there you have it, the theme for December is "Change", and as mentioned above, at least one of the photos you submit MUST be taken in December 2008.

Please arrange your photos into a single image for submission here. It's up to you if they have gaps between them or are in a collage. Since there will be multiple images involved, we're increasing the maximum size of submissions for this month only to 800x800 pixels. Smaller entries are of course allowed. Remember this size is for the complete arrangement of images, not for individual ones.

Well, somebody has to open the batting ... so it might as well be me.

My home overlooks this Scottish mountain panorama, so I get to shoot the same vista all year around in a variety of lights and across the spread of the seasons. It never ceases to amaze me how the same landscape can appear so completely different each time I see it. The Left hand part was shot on my now retired EOS350D on a bright spring day with rain threatening and the Right hand on my Pentax K20D just yesterday. The two shots were scaled, floated together with Photoshop, resized and cropped

ISO 400, 18-55mm kit lens on each camera.

This is Kate, the Catahoula Leopard Dog. She is "stealth." She is so sly that without supervision she will catch birds. That will get her in great trouble with me, but remains a temptation to her. In this series, she was watching the birds and wrestling with the decision whether to go after the black birds or whether to please me. In the last shot you will see her sneaking a peek in my direction to see if I am watching her. So as far as "change" in this series, it is reflected in the unconscious change in her expression.

I revved the throttle so as to make the rev counter dial change to various positions.Being the considerate neighbour that i am this was revved outside my workplace and not my home. Just wish my neighbours were as considerate when they rev theirs. ....sue

One thing that cross in my mind about this month assignment is Time.
Time is always changing every second, minute, hour, day, month and year.
Time runs so fast and I don't realize that this month will be over in couple weeks.

I'd like to make some associations and connotations that I always establish... maybe are part of myself, on my way, by my own...

On this season comes some reflections... health, disease, happiness, lowliness, warm, comfort.

Even knew this subject (not the assignment theme) as too much used, here it goes:

2x hoya close up on a inverted rubber lens hood (and some tricky on a system that doesn't admit filters). Although, 2x was too much on this experience.

First assignment post here

went to the coast of borneo and found myself lying on the ground observing the movement of crabs ..haha
What caught my attention is their ever changing habits..first it was standing there and i'm guessing that it's going to take that specific path...my assumptions were wrong....and boy crabs are harder at panning than cars.

This crab spotted my presence and it was known that it would dive into the larger hole.

Just as i expected it to be.

upon hearing the shutter click .....it scampered across and i was in time to do some panning shots.

This sure did changed my perspective of the crab's behavior.

First: ISO 200, 1/100 sec, f/8, focal distance was 170mm, October 20th
Second: ISO 200, 1/160 sec, f/8, focal distance was 150mm, December 17th

Post processing on both was limited to crop only.

I wanted to show the decay on this animal's body. While it has changed position (I don't know how), it's the same one. The change in light was a matter of necessity: early morning was the only time I had available to shoot the second photo. In my mind, it works well. The corporeal (rotten flesh) gives way to the incorporeal (light/spirit). I find it kind of poetic.

My first time entering in an Assignment!!! This series of shots is from a couple of separate Agapanther flowers of different ages. I wanted to show the flower at different stages as it blooms.
