I couldn't figure out which genre of photography this belonged to so I went straight for the lens gallery.

Taken with my school's 400D, 17-40mm f/4L USM and Nikon tripod.

Inspired by LahLahSr's May On Assignment Entry which I must say I really liked
Image
6 seconds(yep, also "inspired" by LahLah  ), f/16, 17mm, ISO100 (clickable to larger version)
Of course, this shot isn't as nice as Lah's. :P

Caption lifted from my flickr:
"Fireworks! My first time photographing them, and especially with a DSLR. Used my school's Canon EOS 400D, 17-40mm f/4L and Nikon tripod(which im considering purchasing).

My favourite shot of the day(or night). Below of the picture you can see the cranes from the Marina Bay IR(Integrated Resort) construction site.

Event: NE(National Education) Show 2(National Day Parade Preview for some students)"

C C&C most welcome! :D - PM it to me, thanks! 8)

That's awesome, though could you post more pictures? I'm already thinking of getting one.

I have had this lens for almost a year now, and this was my first, and so far, my only L lens. This lens very sharp... I love it. I'm a stickler when it comes to sharpness and this lens does the job. At 17mm it can get a little fuzzy at the corners, but man I love this lens. These are all shot on a 40D.

Hello and greetings from Finland.

I have 17-40mm mounted on 40D and so far I'm more than pleased with it's performance. This is my 1st DSLR kit and 1st photo session with it. While choosing lens I was looking for sharpness and good colors over IS and aperture value.

Here's some shots from the 1st trip to Helsinki Old Town:

Image

17mm 1/100s f/4.0 ISO100 - shot as .jpg and no post processing

Image

24mm 1/15 f/18.0 ISO200 - shot as .jpg and slightly cropped

Borrowed this lens this week end , it's a pretty good glass ( way better than my kit lens , haha ). And the background blur is quite smooth . No notable fringing or chromatic aberration and barrel distortion is really kept to a minimum , unllike the 17-85mm kit lens I have :)

Hi,
I decided to share some of my pictures with the 17-40L. I have it for over 2 years, and even though the USM broke and it was quite expensive to fix, I really love it...

I must agree that this lens is sharp and gives great color.

Sample shots. Minor cropping only.

(Posted pix 1 in the other forum under architectural landscape...sorry for the double post).

After seeing all the great photos of landscapes, architecture, natural wonders, and fireworks I see that no one has posted the capability of the lens to do macro work, with a minimum focusing distance of .28M it's amazing how close you can get into small things
