so i'm trying to upload some shots that I took in RAW today, with windows media player, and they won't open... something about not reading a PEF file... is there anyway i can change the file to something readable by my computer?

I've moved your thread over to the Pentax section as it's not appropriate for Buying a New Camera. It was a toss up whether to move it here or to the Imaging Software section but as it likely involves Pentax supplied utilities...

Not quite sure why you would want to use Media Player, though. If you want to set up a slide show then maybe you should consider using JPEGs rather than RAWs. If you want to manipulate RAW files then I would have thought that dedicated image processing software would be more appropriate.
