Yeah, those are great pictures you have on your flicker account. How about a 50mm or 85mm for those protrait shots? I bet that would give you more than a body upgrade.

I could go ahead and pick up the 50mm f/1.8 but I have heard it is a bit diffucult to use on the D40.

I would like to save my money, but a 50mm would be great for me cause I really want to do more portraits.

Only MF with the 50mm on a D40/x! Seen my test of the f1.4-variant here?

hmmm, a good reason to buy another body then :) ...and a good reason to question the D40 if only zooms are available

Honestly Rune. In this respect you could call the D40/x rightfully castrated :roll:
And Nikon will certainly not be in a hurry to equip all their primes with AF-S as the numbers sold offer no financial incentive to them.
Although to be fair: from 300mm onwards many Nikon tele-primes have AF-S
