Hi all,

have a look at the pictures I made september 1st on the legendary
Nurburgring in Germany. It was my first time since I got the D80, and taking action shots with that machine is an absolute joy!

Also, please comment on my pictures, after all I'm here to learn from the experts. I found it quite hard to put "motion" into the shots. The cars, although driving quite fast, all seem to be "standing still". Is panning a good technique here? Or should I adjust certain settings?

For the moment I only added 5 shots, but I'll add more soon.

Yves, nice you visited the Nürburg-Ring. I've been there in my youth, even had the chance to drive as a co-pilot over the long distance!
As to your pics: obviously 1/500sec freezes all the action in a way that there is no feeling of the speed left. Try 1/100 plus panning next time, and when you feel confident in your "panning capabilities" even 1/60sec or 1/30. the motion blur add dramatic "feel" to this type of pics!
Just start trying with normal traffic...

Yep, I agree - experiment between 1/15 and 1/100 and keep the camera panning as you depress the shutter release - gives a lovely effect whether it's cars, horses, greyhounds or fighter jets zooming past!
