Post subject: How to Sell Prints?
PostPosted: Sun Jul 27, 2008 4:23 am
Hello everybody,

This question is more out of curiosity then optimism... What I really want to know is how do you go about selling prints? I know I'm a long ways off from that point, but it might be a future option to make some money for new gear.

Cheers!

Eric D.

Post the photo you would like to sell on your favorite photo sharing site with a watermark accrossed it saying "for sale" (or whatever) and have your e-mail below it. When someone contacts you send them an e-mail with a PayPal button (this is free and easy to set up from PayPal) with how much you want. The buyer can then use his credit or debit card, PayPal send you a "money has been deposited to your account" e-mail then you e-mail the buyer your photo without the watermark. :)

I have sold a few prints, i have always been some what active in the local art community here, and not to mention a very good friend of mine is one of the most recognized artist over here, as well as one of my mothers best friend. So i been riding on their "famous" wheel so to speak

They both like my work a lot, and they have let me display my work at their galleries as well as when they had one of those "welcome to my new art displays" and thus i have gotten some "cred" if you will.

Thats one way of doing things...having contacts

Thanks Alex,

Might I note that I originally made this thread more than 2 months ago...

Oh well,

Also, because I'm a student, I can't seem to set up a paypal account...

That's not right. I set up my paypal account back when I was a poor undergraduate.

Login to your Paypal account and set it up to you e-mail account so you can e-mail a Paypal visa button to anyone.
I can't remember how but it was easy and self explanatory to setup.
I like shooting surfers because they are willing to pay to see themselve surf.
