 Post subject: Buying the D80...
PostPosted: Mon Aug 27, 2007 3:45 pm
I have been looking at purchasing the D80 for a short time now, and I am just starting to live out my photographic dreams. That being said, obviously I am fairly ignorant when it comes to purchasing a camera. My question is this:

With the release of the new D300 in November, is it likely that the D80 will go down in cost or will it most likely stay the same? (The more I can save, the sooner I will be able to purchase the 18-200 VR  )

Thanks!

Well You can get them for 900 USD online at adorama or B&H for just the body. Then you can add that lens you want.

I know how much I can get them for now. Trust me, I have done the research.

But the actuall question was if the price is expected to go down with the release of the D300 in November.

I don't think so, given that the 2 cameras are in different classes....

Did the price of the D70s go down when the D200 was introduced?

I'm with Darrin on this one. Most prospective D80 buyers are unlikely to be influenced by availability of the D300 because the D80 and D300 occupy such different price points. Availability of the D300 will probably affect D200 sales to a degree which may move the price of that model downwards a little but even then the D200 will cost significantly more than the D80.

D80 pricing may be affected by new announcements or changes in price of competing models of similar capability from other makers.

Bob.
