Hello everybody.....

I'm thinking of buying a set of PC speakers.... only to listen to songs and watch movies :)
Can somebody tell me whether the 2.1 speakers sound better or the 2 channel studiophilles like AV40 sound better.? :(
I dont mind spending the extra on AV40 but i could not decide whether i should choose AV40 or anyother 2.1 speaker..... :(

I'm yet to decide on the model and brand of 2.1 now... But if you have any good experiences, can u share them with me? :?:
also let me know which would be a better brand and model...

and aaahhh... BTW my budget is 150$ only.... :(

I'm not an audiophile but I find that most 2.0 speakers aren't as good as the 2.1s because the 2.0 can't produce the same level of base, they tend to sound tinny with too much treble. Trouble is, most 2.1 speakers have way too much bass. I generally prefer 2.0s but at the low to medium prices, 2.1s perform better, especially they allow you to turn down the bass a little.

You'll want good bass if you watch movies though.

Logitech isn't known for their audio products but their speakers at the price range that you've mentioned are generally quite good.

Thanks Graham for your reply.....
I will certainly have a look at the 2.1 speakers.....

So the baseline is for extra bass i should go for 2.1 or else 2.0 speakers..... AV40 is termed as Studio monitors for its crystal clarity so was having a look at that.... and its reviews were also good...... :)

As you said i was looking for the punchy effect of the sound in higher volumes.... :)

Ok let me look for the models in my budget.... :?

Haha, I didn't realise but after googling the AV40s, I remembered that they were the same speakers I was very interested in a few weeks ago.

Logitech Z-4 are pretty awesome IMHO. Best 2.1 I ever had.

Honestly, I don't know much about specs BUT, i do listen to hip-hop music a lot and the bass is awesome (in fact, i can't put it on max since i'm in a block apartment  )

I have nothing to complain about.
