Hey guys,

This thread has convinced me to buy the K200D, although I much prefer the D80. With a budget I think this will do nicely. Love the body build of this camera and hope to enjoy it.

Thanks guys

David

PS-Should I put in $150 more so I can get a 50 - 200mm lens with the kit? Or spend it on accessories.

Bonjour David,

The lens 50-200mm is listed at USD 260 at the  Pentax shop. So you save a lot buying in a bundle with the camera.

The 50-200mm lens is great and provides good quality images. With both the 18-55mm and the 50-200mm, you cover the full spectrum.

Enjoy :)

For that price I would recommend a Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6

The 70-300 is a better performing lens than 50-200 in most area, though suffering from heavy purple fringing at high contrast transition

rei, that surprise me, US$260?! Too much I think. It's sold for lesser in retail price.

Yes, unfortunately, at the Pentax Web Store... :(

Hey byte and rei,

I don't know much about Tamron except that they make good lenses. My question is that will their lens fit on any body? Or do they make each zoom for each brand of SLRs.

Bonsoir David,

For Tamron as for Sigma, the lenses come in different flavours, one per system (Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax).

Before selecting a lens, check carefully that the lens is compatible with your camera :!:

Sometimes, there are differents systems for one brand. Pentax has normal DA lenses (the motor for the focus is in the camera) and SDM lenses (the motor for the focus is in the lens).

Have a look at that : 1 more connector on the outer metal ring and 2 more connectors on the inner dark ring. The screw head for focusing remains in the DA* SDM.

So check carefully :)

Bonjour Rei,

Thanks for the help, but doesn't tamron have lens mounts? So that the lens will work on any camera, all you need is to change the lens.

J'amepelle David

Hi David,

This lens is also available across other systems, with different mount and fit different system. So you have to look for K-mount version to fit your Pentax.
