What tickles me is that it's not full frame, comes witha 28-135 (not wide) !
But there's a 18-55 IS and a EF14mm L that's coming
So, 900 pounds = 1,800 us ? = 2,000 CAD I guess. But Amazon.com listed it as 1,300$ US, can't remember if it's body only or with the 28-135 IS
In my opinion this was never going to be a full frame or even an APS-H offering, nice as that would have been, because it would have undermined Canon's premium models and upset the 20D, 30D, 400D etc. upgraders with EF-S lenses.
The 18-55 IS will make a decent kit lens for the first time EOS buyer. As for the EF 14mm f/2.8L II, it's a bit out of my price range I think.
Talking of price, I have been talking "body only" and the £900 figure is Canon's RRP. Nobody sells at RRP in this country and I would certainly cancel my order if that was the actual price.
As I mentioned, the store I have pre-ordered with hasn't figured out a proper price yet. Given that in the States Amazon has positioned the 40D as cheaper than the Nikon D200 I would be surprised not to see the 40D body for under £800. Hopefully, similar logic will apply in Quebec.
