Hello everyone, welcome to September’s Assignment!
The theme for this month is “Urbanism”, as suggested by Orsan Kart who won the July 2008 competition. In Orsan’s own words:
“I have chosen something that has been in my life and artworks for some time. For a person who has been in landscape carved by man through municipals since he was a boy, my chosen subject is Urbanism.
A short definition of Urbanism: Urbanism is the study of cities — their geographic, economic, political, social and cultural environment, and the imprint of all these forces on the built environment. Urbanism is also the practice of creating human communities for living, work, and play, covering the more human aspects of urban planning. Urbanists define urban areas by their high population density. They maintain that this characteristic makes cities physically and sociologically distinct from rural areas.
Creative flow should not be barred. Post processing allowed. Have Fun - Now go snapping”
So there you have it, the theme for September is Urbanism, and as always the image you submit has to be taken during the month of entry – that is, taken during September 2008. Photos taken on an earlier date do not qualify!
1: The photo you submit should be taken during the month of the actual assignment - so for this month's contest, it must be taken during September 2008.
2: You're only allowed to submit one image, and you can't change your mind once it's posted!
3: Images should be no larger than 500 pixels on their longest side.
As always, please exercise good judgement on what is suitable for the forum.
Please include a sentence or two with your photo describing what you were trying to achieve and if there were any particular challenges in doing so.
We're all enthusiasts here, so it's also great to see what equipment you used and the settings too. So please also include the following:
Lens and focal length:
Submissions will close at midnight GMT on 30th September 2008. The final poll will follow.
Please remember this thread is for submissions only and that posted images should be around 500 pixels on their longest dimension. If you'd like to comment on any of the submissions or ask any questions, please do so in the September 2008 comments
Thanks and good luck!
