This shot was taken at a resort outside Colombo, Sri Lanka.
I was actually in the pool when i saw the sky turn these beautiful shades and so legged it back to my room to grab my cam. Although this scene was taken more with the sunset in mind, i think the silhouettes of the coconut trees make a spectacular foreground and add to the overall effect. This shot, like life, just would not be the same without the trees! Although i must add that i don't think the small-size version quite does it justice..

Shot with:
Olympus E-410
Lens: 14-54mm @22mm
Aperture: F4.5
Exposure: -0.7
Shutter: 1/10 sec.
Flash: Off
WB: 6000K
ISO: 400
Format: Olympus RAW
Post-processing: Nothing. All settings were made in-camera and the result was pretty much what i was looking for. Although i may have dropped the exposure a notch. Then just compressed the image down to jpeg and hey- presto!

OKAY, I was quite lucky here.
Our summer holiday was in Austria, and most of it in the Waldviertel which is the forest quarter! So, without seeing the forum subject for a month I do have a nice forest shot. As you understand I saw quite a lot of trees this month. I took it while my wife drove slowly (it would be very difficult driving as well,) through the woods.

Well Hopefully GMT saved me submitting this picture.
Taken during a festival in my home town where they used blue and green spotlights on the trees, for a very nice effect.
It was difficult to capture it, and that was a reason for me to buy a tripod afterwards.
Here it is:

Image

[edited to include the following]

Camera: Olympus E-510
Exposure: 0.05 sec (1/20)
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 14 mm
ISO Speed: 1600

I call this one "Too early!".

I had a number of ideas, but this one struck me with the greatest impact. Trees can represent many things: life; family; nature. For me they represent change.

BUT NOT TOO EARLY!!!

Image
Camera Model: Pentax K200D
Lens and focal length: 50-200 @ 200mm
Aperture: f 6.3
Shutter Speed: 1/250
Sensitivity: ISO 100
Post processing: Slight saturation, cropping, sharpening.

Cheers,

David

Trees in the early morning reflecting off the lake. I imagine these trees just waking up, looking at themselves in the mirror, making sure their leafs are all combed. :)

Minor color adjustments in post processing.
