Hi , I have some questions about the canon 1.4 and 2.0 extenders.

I know they cost you 1 and 2 f-stops respectivley , but do they also downgrade the image quality of the picture ?

Second question : The canon extenders are a bit pricy , but sigma and tamron also offer extenders for canon bodies which are a lot cheaper than the canon ones. But are they of the same optical quality or worse ? In other words : is the additionnel cost of the canon extenders worth it ?

Thx.

Bart

Hi Bart, I've used the Canon extenders and they're certainly very good, but I have also tried a Jessops 2x converter with a Canon fit which cost just 80 UK pounds and worked just fine.

Their extension tubes are also a good deal compared to manufacturer's own branded ones.
