Hi everyone,
Today was my first proper couple of hours with this lens. I know theres still a lot to experience but I was generally pleased with it.

Hi everyone,
I was out early this morning under a very overcast sky with low cloud.
Just to show the benefit of vibration reduction on this lens this image was shot at 1/15sec at f5.6. iso 250
I've been experimenting with the white balance and had this at 'cloudy +1'
focal length 300mm

regards GCJ :)

hi all,
what ever you think about the rights and wrongs of zoos this was a sad sight to see, two chimps looking so unhappy.
This is one of them I'm sure thinking of what it's like to be free.

HI john

what an amazing picture! It's just dead sharp (for my eyes anyway),
which makes me wonder: Should we have a discussion about sample
variations on that lens? I will try and dig out my sharpest at 300mm
and post it here but off the top of my mind I would bet just now that
it doesn't come anywhere close...

B.t.w: What kind of crop is this?

Also, apart from sharpness, great composition in my opinion...

Cheers, Matthias

Thanks very much Matthias,
The only crop was to centralise the hand. In capture nx2 mainly just colour boost and contrast which tends to sharpen the picture anyway.
I was only may be two meters away. I think the vibration reduction did the rest, what a great lens for the money love it.
Thanks for you comment John :)

There's no point in giving any info only to say this was taken in raw and with my newly aquired hard copy of capturenx2 I just went mad on every function.

Quite a tight crop for this shot in PP. The final image is only 1148 x 769, but that's more my fault than the lens. From NEF, so contrast, sharpening, saturation have been edited a fair bit.

Check that insane shutter speed LOL. VR to the rescue! I took a fair few at 1/80th and Iso 800 but I figured I had nothing to lose and fired off a few continuous frames at Iso 200.
