Hello everyone, this is the place to discuss the submissions for July 2008's assignment, and to ask any questions.

Seeing as I had a part in this topic choice, I feel I should help.

Here are a couple of links to hopefully explain minimalism:

http://digital-photography-school.com/b ... otography/

http://www.photocritic.org/photographic-minimalism/

Hope they help :D

Thanks Georgie for using one of my ideas, I hope its successful or I'll have to run for cover!!

I think it is just like that nasty little saying: "LESS IS MORE"...

Less is more, my foot, MORE IS MORE.

But I think I get the jist of this topic...

gracias.

This is fantastic.
So broad, so open and so easily interpreted.

I can't wait to get snapping =D

I found this link http://photo.net/no-words-forum/00HfvA while doing a google on minimalism. Has some quite good examples i thought. Maybe it will help give someone else out there some ideas :D

I have a photo I'd like to submit, but it was taken on 6/30, the last day of June.

Since it's not exactly in July (although less than 24 hours to July!), does that make it ineligible? Or is there a small buffer zone of acceptance? :D

Thanks for the info

Hi Syncharmony,

Well, accepting the fact that one can get quite some forum-bashing
for this kind of opinion  , let me suggest that we be fairly british about this.
Let's take it in the "Isn't there anything we can do about thits?" type of spirit.
Which means: Hey, it's only one (or a few) days off date-wise, but wouldn't it be bad to loose a great picture just because of sticking to
"the rules"?
If I like it, it's sure to get MY vote and nobody will kill you for bending
the rules a little bit. At least that's how I hope it is...

Cheers,
Matthias

Hi Syncharmony, I realise it's frustrating if you have an ideal image to submit, but I'm afraid it is outside the timeframe, and rules are rules!

It makes more sense if you think about the rule being there to encourage you to go out and take a photo once you've been given the assignment - like a commission if you will. Since you didn't know the theme when you took the photo, it doesn't count in this respect - it was just a nice coincidence!

So sorry, but thanks for your honesty - and we're all keen to see it if you'd like to post it in this section...

Gordon
