Here is a fun one, the first posted picture with my new lens

Image
http://www.flickr.com/photos/brate

Nikon D40
Quantaray 70-300mm @ 300mm
Manual Focus
F/5.6
1/160 sec.
ISO-200
Exposure Adjustment in PS CS -.27
Little bit of sharpening to please my eye.

A side note, Quantaray is a relatively cheap brand of lens sported by Ritz Camera. I believe it is manufactured by Sigma and Tamron as a house brand and does not auto focus with the D40 but did only cost $149.00 (us) new. To me its a decent beginner lens for someone who dosnet want to risk a large investment.

Nice shot Brate!

How big was the moon on the original image?

This is a 813x636 crop so effectively only 1/2 Megapix!

Thats as large as I could get it due to the 300mm max range and the 6.1 mp sensor :?

here is the original (slightly sized down by flickr).

Welcome to the manual focus world :? It's really a pity that the D40/x did away with the AF screw-driver...
Did you have serious issues getting the sharpness right (see my moon-article with 2 out of 9 hits)?
