Here's a shot the tourist board would rather you didn't see. It's for those of you sweltering in record temperatures in the rest of Europe.


Canon 400D, EF 24-105mm f4L IS USM at around 30mm - sorry, exposure etc. not recorded.

The Windrush is normally a quiet river a only few inches deep. You can see it curving left and slightly down from the bridge in the distance. No idea where the ducks have gone. This time last year we were enduring water usage restrictions!

This is the 10,000 GBP chance to make some shots that you cannot do under normal conditions. Try to make the best out of bad weather.

I lived some time in Karlsruhe at the river Rhine. There are some old river beds of the Rhine that fill when the river runs high. That was really a fascinating landscape, although a lot of moscitos made your life miserable
I'd still love to be there and capture some of the moments when nature is out of bounds

Once we had high water in a hard winter, so the water froze in the old river beds and then the water retreated. What was left were some "ice-tables" at 1.5m hight around the trees. I've never seen something like this before (and again)
