The BG2 battery grip is a useful accessory for the Pentax K10D for portrait shootings.

The grip holds a second battery (
not included) and provides extra hours. This second battery could be managed either automatically with the first one in the K10D or manually, through the menu Preferences > Page 3/3 > First line "Battery choice".
The grip also welcomes the wireless IR remote (
not included) as well as a second SD card (
not included). A specific place is ready for the connector protector of the K10D.
Pros
The BG2 grip fits perfectly on the K10D, with the same water-proof protection (not tested
)
The real benefit is for portrait pictures. The camera fits firmly at hand and all the controls are available at the right place under the fingers: shutter, depth of field preview, front and rear dials, green button, +/- compensation, AE-L button.
Nice feature, the grip controls could be switched off and on, avoiding unwanted pictures.
Even in landscape mode, the grip provides extra stability. I was somehow surprised by this feature, making the use of the camera with the grip even nicer
Cons
The tripod mount is no longer centered on the axis of the lens.
Replacement of the K10D battery needs to detach the grip, change the K10D battery, attach the grip.
It is a pity that the SD card inside the grip is not used to store pictures in conjunction with the SD card placed in the K10D.
The K10D plus the BG2 appears bulkier and heavier, and requires a bigger camera bag.
As said before on the K10D review, the LCD rear screen doesn't handle the vertical position on display mode and INFO mode. But the viewfinder remains unchanged, as the top LCD.
Wrap-up
Once again, ergonomics play an important role. The grip provides extra stability, on both portrait and landscape mode.
Second battery, SD card and wireless IR remote are
not included, so consider extra spending for the full kit.
At USD 130~200, it is worth considering, especially as part of a bundle at attractive price.
