I am not sure if there is one that sort of does both but I thought I'd ask the experts!:) I am looking for a tripod that I can carry around on holiday (so not too heavy) . Compact and would help me with some night shots and panorams? I understand that a tripos on it's own is not going to help in its entirety to get a panorama right. However I am not looking for anything too fancy. Have quite a tight budget so any recommendations guys?

I will be in Canada shortly and was wondering if anyone could recommend some place that sells cheap camera gear ? (equiv to B&H in NYC)

thanks!

hi,
I'm no expert but in my experience Morrisphoto.co.uk have an excellent way of deriving the right tripod and head for you. Sorry Gordon not on your price check list. Its worth a look, nothing to lose good luck
regards GCJ :)

Hi dm_starting,

I've just posted a User Review of the Gitzo GT1541T Tripod plus Arca-Swiss Z1 DP Ballhead which you can read here. It's not a cheap option but I think my testing has shown that with modern materials and some care during use a light-weight tripod can do the job well.

Bob.

hi dm_starting

generally speaking, the prices here in Canada are noticeably higher than in the US. I bought my stuff in the US online and with shipping and customs it still came out appreciably cheaper than anywhere I could find here in Canada.

Of course, Canada is vast beyond compare, so there may have been a deal I overlooked...

Cheers :-)
