Hello Mr. Laing and fellow forum members,

First let me say I'm very impressed with the Camera Labs website. I've found it very helpful and one of the best organized sites available. The fact that so many brands and models are tested and reviewed in very similar conditions has helped make sence of so much information. Thank you!

On to my question: After researching and handeling many DSLRs, I was 95% settled on the Nikon D80. When I went into the store for a look at the K10D, the fellow I spoke with introduced me to another model currently on sale, the Canon 30D. For an additional $100, I could get the 30D with an image stabilized lens.

This seems to me like a great deal & the way to go, even though I prefer the menus, and features on the D80. I know the Nikon has higher megapixels but that doesn't seem that important compared to processing and better build quality.

I'm new to this so perhaps I'm missing something.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Hi Jak, welcome to the Cameralabs forums!

The 30D's a great camera, but it's getting on now and is soon to be replaced. See this thread for more details:

Thank you for the quick reply. I see your point, and I don't require more then 3fps for what I'm shooting. A co-worker who is into photography feels they may be dumping their stock of 30Ds to make way for the 40D.

I'm not in a rush, so I may wait for a better deal on the D80 (2 big holiday sale weekends coming up).

Thanks again for the help!
