Bonjour,
I had once the opportunity to talk about the bundled software Pentax Photo Browser, Pentax Photo Laboratory and Pentax Remote Assistant, which are great and deliver what they promise.
The first two are now on release 3.5 and found
here. I only tested the Mac version.
I focus on Pentax Photo Laboratory, which turns a RAW picture (either PEF or PNG) into a JPEG file, with all the parameters available in the camera.
A Pentax Photo Laboratory help page provides a summary of what's new from the previous release:
Quote:
Enhanced image tone options
When processing RAW files, you can select from six arrangement options*1 (image tone options available with Custom Image, a new feature on the K20D) in addition to five Picture modes*2 and nine Scene modes*3. (Version 3.5 and later)
*1 Bright, Natural, Portrait, Landscape, Vibrant, and Monochrome
*2 Picture (Portrait), Picture (Landscape), Picture (Macro), Picture (Moving Object) and Picture (Night Scene Portrait)
*3 Scene: Night Scene, Scene: Surf & Snow, Scene: Text, Scene: Sunset, Scene: Kids, Scene: Pet, Scene: Candlelight, Scene: Museum, and Scene: Food
Hue, Filter Effect, and Toning added to the Other settings panel
The following three options have been added to the Other settings panel (in version 3.5 and later): Hue (for changing the image color), Filter Effect (for tuning the shading resulting from the color differences in images processed in monochrome), and Toning (for fine-tuning the color in monochrome images).
Basically, if you shoot in RAW with a K10D, with this new release of Pentax Photo Laboratory, you get the K20D main options through this two new functions. Here's the menu (sorry, in French

)
Now, I just wonder, with so many parameters and options to deal with on the K20D before shooting, could ever a photographer release the shutter button and take a picture

So RAW mode seems to provide a great solution, both to avoid missing the magic moment and then to fine-tune the picture with post-processing after
Best regards,
