I bought this camera because I wanted an entry-level dSLR. I had an Olympus SP-550 UZ, and I can clearly see the image quality is just way better. I would have bought it first time if I knew that it had that kind of picture quality. I will not buy Point & Shoot camera again. I'm addicted to dSLR. The image quality is not comparable.

Let's begin..

Well, after 5 hours of use, ect. First problem. Hair (yes, Hair) and some dirt in the viewfinder, but not on the picture (which means it is on the focusing screen). This makes me upset. I'm a poor student, and I'm taking all the cash I can to buy it (1706$, EF-S 18-55 kit with accessories), and it's dirty.

Construction: 4/5

I like the construction. It feels well made. The grip is maybe a LITTLE small, but that's no big trouble.

The kit is easy to install.

I would recommend to charge your lithium battery for 8 hours the first time, (overnight), to buy an UV filter (to protect dirt from touching your lens) and the best guarantee you can purchase. And a fast card, like the Sandisk Compact Flash Extreme III 2 gb.

I have not yet explored all options, but it seems pretty nice. Auto mode does nice pictures, but sometimes they are underexposed. It lacks Image Stabilization but you can buy lens and get it, but it's really pricey. A Tripod is a more realistic options IMO.

What a difference from my P&S/SLR-Like Olympus SP-550 UZ. It's quite amazing. Sure, I don't have Image Stabilisation or 10x zoom, but with lens everything is ok. At a price of course. If you are poor I would strongly recommend you to buy a tripod.

Ease Of Use: 3.5/5

Well, it's my first dSLR, so it's my first time experiencing with lens, ect.

Value For Money: 4.5/5

Pricey, but the image quality well worth the price. The camera has an auto-cleaning system, but lacks image stabilization, which is easily remedied by buying an IS lens or a tripod (Tripod cost less !)

Pros:

Low Noise at high iso

Good Auto mode, but sometimes underexposed

Extraordinary image quality compared to Point&Shoot

Alot of lens to choose from, some with Image Stabilization

Cons:

Underexposure in Auto mode,

Dirty Focusing Screen just after purchase

I don't know, there was 2 little hair in the viewfinder but not on my picture - so it was on the focusing screen

Aren't the hairs maybe on the outside of the viewfinder?

No, after cleaning the camera with compressed air (but not the type that freeze, only strong wind) the hair dissapeared

I've also had tiny hairs or marks on the focusing screens of DSLRs... very annoying, but normally rectified by a scoosh of air!
