Post subject: Buy and Sell section?

Im not sure as this was discussed before as a search of the word Buy or sell give numerous results

I was wondering if a "For Sale" section was ever though of here ? I mean when i upgrade bodies or lenses i would prefer a good plae to sell them , to people who would appreciate them ( EBay and kijiji have uneducated lowballers) ...

As i type i realize that we are spead all over the world...but its just a thought.

Even though a buy/sell section can be nice, it can also cause a lot of trouble.
Besides, people in here are from all over the world, so you would most likely hit some logistic problems.

Yes, it has been considered and so far rejected. That policy extends to forum posts. Members are kindly requested not to create posts offering equipment for sale (or include "For Sale" notices in their signatures!!!) until such time as Gordon decides to change the policy.

Have a look at this reply from Gordon in an earlier thread on this subject.

Bob.

My opinion is: no

Too much trouble can come from this. Besides, there are plenty of established sites where buying and selling is supported by payment options, guarantees etc.

Cheers :-)

I voted for yes, earlier, but, you know it would taint this place, and I think attract folks we don't want to play with..giving our names and addresses etc. for shipping...and so I polled yes, but I feel like a no, now that I think about it.

so adjust the poll to reflect that once again I acted without thinking first.
make me a no on this one...

I'm afraid we can't do this on the site at the moment. As Bob says, there's a liability issue. Feel free to PM each other, but public threads with items for sale will be deleted - sorry!

Further to the recent thread on a buy/sell forum:

While a buy/sell forum in theory would be great, it's just going to bring in the scammers and single post users and ruin the good community we have here. Let's keep this community as it is - problem free!
