Only just seen this thread and not read previous entries but my son's Canon 40D (originally mine) failed in light rain. Not the lens, but the camera.

Just curious how "light" was the rain, how long was it in it, and what was the failure mode? For example, did it start to misbehave, or died totally? Did it recover after allowing to dry out?

And one more thing: was the lens that was used in the rain weather sealed? If it isn't then the point of connection with the camera could have let water into the body which could wreak havoc on the inside.
