First submission ever for me...well this is actually the view that I have from my window, in Grenoble, France. When it's not cloudy, we get to see nice (sometimes snowy) mountains.

Image

Camera model: Samsung Digimax A40
Lens and focal length: Default lens @ 6mm
Mode: Manual
Aperture: f/5.8
Shutter speed: 1/176 sec
Sensitivity: ISO 50
Post-processing: A lot of tweaking (shadows, white balance, etc) and a global desaturation in Apple Aperture. The non-desaturated picture can be seen here and the original one here. I wanted to give this dirty look to the city because, well it is hell of a lot polluted. We are surrounded by mountains, so the town is basically a massive pollution-drain :P

Trying to get a shot for this competition has given me a great excuse to (finally) climb the tower of Groningen. Looking out over the central square. It's too bad i was in such a hurry or i could have made this shot when the market was there...

I took a walk along the beach at seven this morning and this is what I seen.

The tall building is the power station which has not been in use since the seventies, but serves as a land mark.

Pebbles Canon 40D, ss 1/20, F5.6, Focal length 70mm, ISO 100
Water Canon 400D ss 1/25 F13, Focal length144mm, ISO 100
Power Station Canon G9 ss1.30 F3.5, Focal length 22m , ISO 100

I was packing camera like a tourist :D

Focal length: 50mm
Shutter speed: 5 sec

This castle is located in the region where I live. I wanted to put what I'd seen in Gordon's tutorial about night shots to good use.

Hey everyone,

During this really busy and cold month, I've tried to find a bit of time to capture a shot for this Assignment as well. I've waited until today to post, hoping I could capture something nicer but I guess this will be my pick to share with you all.

This photograph was taken inside the Congress Center, downtown, and to me was special because of the feeling it brought me. As winter comes with a great lack of colors and warmth, this shot represented all the opposite. The sun coming in through the glass was so pleasant and seeing the outdoors through this mosaic of color gave me hope for spring. Hope you guys can feel a bit of this through the shot :)
I also think it represents Montreal well in the sense that it's a vibrant city.

Camera: Nikon D40x
Lens: AF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 ED II
Focal length: 28mm
Shutter speed: 1/320 sec
Aperture: f/4.2
Sensitivity: ISO 800
Post processing: Added a semi-transparent border

Rise Above:
Image

I took this photo this afternoon, how does it illustrate my city, its almost exactly like the literal meaning, my city has a lot of problems and (this mural is painted on my school building) the kids at my school (most of them) rise above the problems, and its the best school in the city.

Camera Model: Fuji Finepix s6000fd
Lens and focal length: (windows says) 6 mm
Aperture: f/8
Shutter Speed: 1/85
Sensitivity: ISO 100
Post processing: Changed background (added nicer bricks) added borders and titles applied "Poster Edges effect" in photoshop cs3.

I just barely made it in time 15 minutes left to post!
