My wife has a Nikon D7100 and I want to buy her a macro lens for it as a gift. Since I don't know anything about photography I have no idea how to go about finding a good compatible lens. Can anyone recommend a good, reasonable price lens?

Take a look on here; ... lens.shtml

It depends on your budget really. The 105mm is a great lens, you won't be disappointed, but there are also 3rd party cheaper alternatives to Nikon.

The Nikon 60 f2.8G is also very good, but has a shorter working distance. It also does well as a "standard" lens.

Depends what the lens is needed for - sometimes you need a longer working distance, other times it doesn't matter so much.

For flowers (for example) my 60 f2.8D does really well, although its working distance is a bit greater than the G.
