Hi There,
A question on behalf of my dad who recently purchased the DMC - TZ40.

When the camera is in Intelligent Auto mode is it possible to cancel the A.F. tracking so that you can use just a centre square in the middle of the screen to focus ?

I hope that makes sense - my dad says he can't find the answer to this in the manual.

Many thanks

The question makes sense. Unfortunately, the answer is "no". Per page 39 of the manual under "[Intelligent Auto] Mode Restrictions":

[Rec] menu

●The settings for the following functions are fixed:

••[AF Mode]: [Face Detection]∗

∗ (23-area-focusing) when face cannot be recognised

Sorry - Mark

Hello Maestro,
Thanks for your prompt response. I sense another Ebay sale on his behalf - he has 3 or 4 cameras on the go at once and no doubt this will be a bug bear for him.
Great forum - wil luse for all his future questions.

Thanks again

Mark
