Hi,
I was just wondering does anyone have any tips?

I have a D60, 50mm 1.4, 35mm 1.8, 18-55mm kit lens, sb-600 flash gun, tripod.

Thank you.
Neil

How good are you with your flash? Are you set to take it off camera? I'm not great at off camera yet but am studying and this is what I would do. Aim the flash right at mom's belly and shoot a profile. Keep the flash on manual very close to her (just out of frame) and set the power pretty low. Don't worry about not having a background, you don't need it. Mom should wear comfy pants that she can pull down under belly and a light weight t-shirt. She can pull the t-shirt snug around her belly or roll the shirt up to see her belly. If you need to learn about off camera flash I highly recommend http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/03/lighting-101.html

This is not my photo, I do not know the person taking the picture nor have I asked their permission to post. They had it linked to a public pool of photos for critic.

Take a look at Elliott Erwitt's fifth image on this page: http://www.catherinecouturier.com/exhib ... ter-class/
The lighting in the picture isn't all that great, but I think the idea is awesome.

The honorable thing to to. Of course, Erwitt might have only thought of putting the pictures together like this after some time...

If you google (make sure the images tab is selected)
"vanity fair cover pregnant"
you get the classic Demi Moore, bump shot as well as some other examples

Different photographer have different taste such as; wildlife photography, nature photography, event photography (wedding photography, party photography), fashion photography and many others. Here I completely appreciate the effort of the photographer.
