More ships from me. Went to wave goodbye to my aunt and uncle yesterday, who are off on a cruise for the next two weeks. Brought my Zoom H2n audio recorder along for a photographic experiment I have been thinking about lately. Click the image or link below to listen to this picture. I should add that the audio of this image is probably not that interesting, recognising interesting sounds besides just interesting pictures is something I will have to learn.
Please let me know what you think of adding audio fragments to images.

Seems like a pretty interesting thing to me, I can see it being used, for example, after taking a photo on a crowded street, recording the ambient noise to give a much realistic feel to the picture. I don't know, just some idea I got, I like it though :)

Thanks for your comment! That idea had occurred to me as well, but I am wondering whether random street noise adds enough to a picture. Often times that's all it really is, noise. If you were to shoot on a market with loud sellers, or on at a restaurant with plates being moved or an accordion player for example, that might work.
Here's another example from Paris, which I just remembered I had. Click the image to go to the page with the audio.

Today I was watching the flame of a candle and then decided it's worth taking a shot of it.

James, what caused the bent shadows on the bridge deck. I like the stance of the girl, looks like she's saying not again for a photo shoot.

When I blew the girl up there was traces of a line of pink/orange on her arms. I also get this on the D7000 but mine is worse with the D7000 with fair skinned people, I reduced my saturation from 3 to 2 and from a recent shoot of a marathon it was just as bad in bright sunlight, looks like I need to reduce it more. What saturation have you set on yours as the girl shot you would not notice the pink in normal viewing.

Cheers

Hi 4xxxx, I think the wooden planks are causing the bend in the shadow lines, well at least some of them.
Maybe post the picture you have of the orange streaks, because I can`t see it on this monitor or I am not looking hard enough.

Hi 4xxxx

The bends are caused by the sun being really low so any discrepancies in the steel work a showing up quite a bit, you can see this about 3 planks in on the first big kink - if you follow the frame up on the left you can see where its been riveted. so that and the wooden planks is causing the effect.

As for the pink/orange I can't see anything apart from shadow, here's a 1:1 screen grab from the RAW file..

and here's the finished shot.

There's quite a bit of PP with boost of saturation up to 9 and lots of clarity and vibrance added. I'm interested to know if somebody's seeing something i'm not.

Not my best. I tried starting the shoot to early and could not over power the sun. By the time the conditions were right I was a little flustered. You can even see both flashes in the scene. I should have started with the individuals shots first then finish with the group.

Mike, I like the lighting in this one.

@james. I don’t see any coloured banding on the raw crop but my screen shows a slight banding on the outer left arm on the PP. shot.

This is what I’m getting in bright sun, the sun was behind and to the left of me. The orange banding on my screen is prominent on the 3 female legs and the forearm of the female on the right. This is SOOC and only resized, it was shot in Jpeg fine and the original file 10.9mb.

I don’t recall other D7000 users getting this effect, appreciate any suggestions to fix this.

100% Crop

Not sure if banding or steak is the right word. I've highlighted the orange streaks in black.

Cheers

Thanks for the response Max, after your comment I put them on my TV and still got the same result. I got 10 printed and the prints reproduced the orange banding as seen on my computer screen, from this I assume my screen looks close to the actual printed finish. This is frustrating and only appears when direct sun bounces of a persons legs and arms. :?

Cheers

I think I see what you mean but I'm working away and now on my iPad, I'll keep an eye out to see if I ever get the same result.
