I "may" have a paid shoot coming up when I come back from Afghanistan. It will be simple full body portraits at a Military Formal. With the basic shoot they will get an 8x10 and a digital copy for "Social Media" I want to scale the digital photo so it will be good size on Facebook and such with my logo but not so large to allow printing. What size and DPI should I scale it at.

DPI is only relevant if you are printing. For facebook a 600x400 resolution should be enough but that could already be printed in low resolutions.

But, by lowering the DPI would that also reduce print quality? Not that I can stop someone from printing, I just want it to be a low enough quality that it still looks good on the internet but low enough to discourage printing. I set my photos for print at 300-dpi.

Well - usually printers can adjust that so if the resolution is set to 5 dpi they could still print the whole image on some format. That's always a risk.
