Cujo, it does not look like a HDR, the effects could also be achieved with levels, dodging and burning. It’s close to natural for me.

Hadrian's Wall country, Northumberland. Early morning, misty. On the skyline at the top of the cliff is the remaining 4 feet or so of the wall as it stands today. By that I mean the height of the wall at this point. It runs the entire length of the cliff top and continues on towards that next scarp in the distance, albeit with gaps on the way. I don't think I'd have chosen this particular spot as the one against which to mount an attack.
