What can I expect with regards to using a 70-200 f4L USM with my Canon XSi? Are they a good match? Will the crop body matter? Thanks in advance.

As long as you are not missing the 200-300mm range, and excellent lens that can help you get wonderful pictures.
I am assuming you mean the non-IS version, so you will have to watch your shutter speed and ISO to ensure you get satisfactory pictures.

If you find yourself wanting to use the 70-200mm range, this lens is an excellent choice.

What type of pictures do you want to take?

Excellent lens and it's future proof. The glass matters more than the camera so you can expect very nice pictures - and with that lens you don't have to worry when you upgrade your body :)
The crop body only does the same as it does with any other lens. No reason to worry. ;)

Thanks. I like shooting sunsets and nature. The 70mm end may be too much for some sunsets, but I love the 200mm zoom for getting close to nature.
