5D Mark III firmware 1.2.1 is loaded! It'll be interesting to test the f/8 AF with the 100-400L and Extender 1.4x II

I am thinking that my evidentiary/crime scene photography, which is part of my duty at work, has had the effect of kiling the joy of photographing people. I am thankful that Bjorn's and kimchi's recent images in the Portrait, People, and Street section have been an antidote. :)

I am happy to hear Rex has found an antidote in the images of Kimchi and myself. Also, I just ordered a photo book with pictures from my trip to Paris last month. First album with lay-flat pages, so I'm curious as to how it will turn out.

yes agree, I have enjoyed looking at shots. :)

I am having a few debates with myself at the moment, its an easy one, I cannot work out what to buy for a second body.
A 100D or a 6D. See told you its easy.
I love the idea of a second smaller body to carry around with me and also love the idea of a ff body for landscape and portrait type work. I am in no rush, so will not buy anything until my next holiday in September. By then I expect the 100D to come down in price and it may also give the chance to borrow or hire a ff body to see what I am missing.
Either way I would be adding a wide angle lens.

I know there is quite a price difference between the 6D and 100D, but if you like landscape and portrait, then the choice should be very easy indeed. A 100D might be (a lot) cheaper, but a 6D just blows it out of the water in terms of IQ, and the FF gives you a really wide angle when using for example a 17-40/4 L USM which is a very affordable awesome lens. So maybe in this case it would be wise to go that extra mile, because I think you will be in for an awesome surprise when you make the step to FF.

I am not so much worried about the money, because I have budgeted for a 6D and a 17-40L , but more about about whether or not its worth it.
Have you got a ff camera?

Interesting choice to make, and one that probably deserves its own thread :)

I agree, you should make a thread on this, since I think a lot of people with have an opinion on it :).

As anticipated, my wife has claimed the Nikon Coolpix A. Acquring two of them, "his-n-hers," was my plan, though I could not afford to buy two at once. I reckon she deserves to have the first one, as it is truly useful for her, because she must upload Nikon image files at work. Her primary working camera, for evidentiary photography, is a D7000. She has not been taking her back-up D70s to work with her, due to the bulk. She is able to add the Nikon A to her existing load, without adding bulk.

I think I may be buying another A, for myself, in the coming months, unless I discover some other compact or near-compact camera to fill the role. A Sony RX1 is too expensive. An EOS M would be a contender, and is fully functional with the Canon Speedlite system, but I think I really do like the Nikon A! :)

Just fitted an alternate focus screen in the 5D2... works wonders on the Zeiss 2/50 makro, where with practice I think I can get 95%+ focus hit rate at decent speed. Didn't do so well with the modified FD 50mm f/1.2 though... the shallow depth of field on that might be too much!

popo, did you use a canon brand or a 3rd party focus screen?
