I just bought a Nissin Di622 MarkII flash, I hope I made a good choice, it really was hard to decide on an affordable option..

Don't worry - if I had to choose an affordable flash I'd go for a Nissin Di622 as well. I've got a Nissin Di466 here and sometimes I was a bit disappointed I didn't go for the Di622. OK, now I can't complain after buying the Canon 580EX II but the Di622 is quite nice as well - I could live with it for a while

I think I have the earlier Di622. It works ok as a basic unit within its limits, the only feature I would like but don't have on it is HSS.

My Nissin Di866 Mark II Professional is quite good. Its only weakness I have found, compared to my subsequently-purchased 580EX II, is that in mixed ambient lighting, when the 580EX II is able to perform well in conjunction with a 7D camera set for AWB, the Nissin has been known to make the image too warm. (orange tint) During the shoot in which this happened, at a car park at night, with differing lighting coming from street lights, the car park lighting, and distant businesses, when I saw this orange effect, swapping the Nissin for the 580EX II quickly resolved the problem, without the need to adjust White Balance in the camera. in this particular case, time was of the essence, and the evidentiary images very important, so I was using two cameras, therefore one flashgun on each camera at the start.

My latest significant acquisition, a Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX, purchased from my local Canon seller, during the current rebate period. I believe in supporting Cameralabs with Amazon purchases, but I also love my local camera shoppe, which is a treasure.

I went a little overboard this time.

Bought a D800E (with battery pack) with a 600mm f/4G ED VR lens.

A new tripod and Wimberley head are coming with it.

I told my kids that I just spent their inheritance!

On the final day of the Canon rebate, I returned to my local Canon dealer, and purchased a 1.4x III Extender, and a 270EX II flashgun. This little flashgun works VERY well when bounced from a white ceiling! Its compactness, compared to a 580EX II, is quite notable, both on and off the camera. This is a truly pocketable flashgun.

SlightY away from just camera gear but just bought the western digital tv live hub and a toslink optical switch.

As of next week my home videos, photos, media, music etc will be visible through and accessible through the media server and browsable, navigable and accessible via iPad, laptop and my smartphone!

As well as accessing internet services such as Netflix ! Through the tv.

Techno geek heaven!

Got some of the gear but really still no idea...

I just purchased a Nikon SB-910 flashgun from a local "big box" type of electronics retailer. This particular flashgun was being sold as an "open box" item because it was no longer sealed, at a considerable mark-down of well over $100 US. Upon inspecting it last night, just before closing time, the only symptom it had been handled was a greasy finger mark, which readily wiped clean. I returned this morning, at opening time, to get it. Fortune smiled at me this day!
