This famous statue is part of the urban landscape of Gateshead, South Tyneside, and a symbol of "The Geordie Nation" in north east England.

Look carefully at breast level on this second pic. The tiny white spec is a remote-controlled helicopter/drone.

Finally, the slightly tatty notice giving the background to the statue (you might need to zoom).

I like these as they remind me of my old home. I'm also an avid toon fan and the funny thing is I get to see more of their matches here in NZ than I ever did in the uk. Go figure. :)

Howay the lads.

:D

I especially like the first shot. The aspect is great and really shows of its true size

I'm a fan too - but they just lost again. At Christmas I nearly put £50 on them going down. That way I'd at least have got something from the misery. Perhaps I should think about it again.

First one for me, I think the figure stood at the statues feet adds something to it.

Thanks chaps. I like the first too because of the scale comparison. I guess what I would really like would be to be there when there is a good storm in progress. That should give great opportunities for moody pics!

Three are a fair few shots of the Angel of the North, but I think the first one is perhaps the best I've seen... It's excellent!!

Thank you GTI. That's very kind. I was lucky to be passing this place when it was an exceptionally clear day. Not like today, which is a mix of sunshine and blizzards!
