Just situate your subject in the middle of a large room (so there's as little light reflected from the walls as possible) with only one light source (window) on the subject's side.

And don't use a flash, obviously - Mark

Single light source (i.e. window light) on camera left.

Bring up the shadows slightly with a large white reflector, camera right, close to the subject. Or darken the shadows further with a black card/sheet to absorb the light and block reflected light getting back to the subject's darker side.

This site has been a MAJOR help in lighting photos. They make it so easy and you can apply what you learn from understanding flashes on how to apply it to normal avalible light as well.
