Camera Labs

Here is a short set of images for you, taken last year in Ghent, Belgium. The three pictures show a woman in an electric wheelchair being stopped, arrested, and her wheelchair being loaded into a van for transportation to the police station.

There's one thing I learned from this particular event. If you see something interesting happening that might work as a set of images, stay with it for a while.
I walked away after taking the second image, not knowing the police were going to arrest the lady and take her wheelchair. However, when I came back, I saw that was exactly what they were doing and took the shot of the empty wheelchair in the van a tad to late. A snap of the police loading the chair into the vehicle would have been more interesting.

I do try and do that with nature stuff, but yes why not apply the same for street photography.
In the second photo, the police woman, doesn`t look like she is happy with you taking photos.

He came to talk to our camera club last night, one of the images he discussed was this one

Again he wasn't sure if he should take the shot or not, but in the end decided to go and grab his camera and record the event.

One of the more interesting things he talked about was going from film to digital and now back to film, sold all of his digital gear and bought a Leica Rangefinder, he is now waiting to set up his darkroom and go back to printing his own images rather than digitally post processing them.

Thanks for the links Ian! I'll have a look at some of his work later.

Moving to film has been something that's been on my mind, but unlike Steve Smith, I have not shot film before. Plus, though I would love to get an M6 and shoot Tri-X, I think it's wiser to invest that money in an extra lens for now. The 50mm Lux is great but quite restrictive if it's your only lens.

Great shots! I think you really portrayed the story pretty well, although the gap between the second and third shots does feel pretty noticeable. Oh well, trial and error right? Next time perhaps
