I just got done reading the review, "Canon EOS T4i / 650D Ken McMahon, August 2012", and may I just say it is the most detailed description of this camera anywhere on the World Wide Web. I also finished reading it after getting through the still photography sections of its manual, up to pg. 166. I'll get to the video section next week; I'm still in school.

I have to say I didn't discover this review until after I'd bought the beast. After reading it, I have no buyer's remorse; It is an incredible camera at an affordable price. Had I found it beforehand, I only would've jumped at the purchase that much faster.

I learned about features much faster reading this review than the manual. I never knew how unique the touch screen feature was in the camera world. I almost opted for the T3i to save money; I'm glad I didn't. Like, in preview mode, you can treat photos as if on your smartphone: swipe to next/prev, pinch zoom, etc. Another great thing is that no matter what mode you've got the dial set to, the display pretty much lets you know what options are available; Just press <Q> and they're all in front of you. It makes me long for it every time I use my Canon G12; but everything works different on these two camera anyway.

Another thing I like is how T4i features are compared to other brands/models. You guys know so much about camera equipment it's mind numbing. I never would've know the video digital zoom was discontinued from its predecessor T3i / 600D, for no known reason. I overlooked in the manual that high-precision AF in center is not possible with a lens slower than f2.8, but discovered it in your review. Only one of the three lenses I bought with the camera is f2.8.

I've been a photographer since the 1970's when I built my own B&W darkroom in the house at age 16. However, an AE-1 and G12 does not even prepare you for the power of the T4i DSLR. It's an amazing machine.

Thanks. I've never heard of Quantaray either. What's special is the price: $50 used. It's a very small light lens (2.5"). At 24mm, I'm sure it was intended to be a 35mm camera's wide-angle, but for an APS-C camera it turns out to be in-between wide and standard focal length at 38.8mm; still a practical indoor family & friends lens. It's fairly fast too at f2.8, however it's fixed at that aperture. It's only 2/3 f-stops faster than my multi-purpose 15-135mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS STM lens and not nearly has wide. It is cheap in every sense of the word.
