http://www.canonrumors.com/2013/01/cano ... -for-2013/

Above link to Canonrumors has speculation from a Japanese magazine. Note it is the magazine's guess, and not from Canon!

Headline guesses are:

85% 7D mk2: 24MP sensor, 10fps
70% 70D: 24MP sensor, 3 inch flip screen
80% M2: external viewfinder port, no AF speed improvement for another 1-2 generations.
50% 1DSx: high MP body

Percentages indicate the strength of their belief.

My tuppence: 24MP would be unremarkable, since we already have that from Sony/Nikon. I hope this means Canon have finally moved onto a newer sensor manufacturing process so we will see more of a step improvement than previous. I'm wondering if they will update the AF further in the 7D2 over the current model, although I'm not optimistic that they will outside a slim hope of going for a RGB metering and tracking assist system like the 1D X and many Nikons.

Can't wait for the official announcement of the 7D Mark II! If it is lots better than it's predecessor I will buy that. If not, and it's just a small improvement in terms of MP and burst rate, then I will scoop up a 7D since that has become a lot cheaper the last couple of months. Can't wait to put my new 100-400 on a 7D (Mark II) :D.

I think that the 7D Mk II is one thing that we can be pretty much assured that it'll be released, but concerning the specs, it's hard to know. The 70D I don't quite understand where it will fit in Canon's lineup. Will it be above the 7D or below it? Would be interesting to know. The M2 in my opinion, needs to have an AF improvement over the M, and well, I don't know what Canon might do, but let's hope they do something about the AF. And finally the 1DSx would be a nice camera to see, wonder how many MP they will pack into it if they release it. 40+ MP maybe?

Thanks for sharing popo

The 70D will be below the 7D2 as the 50D/60D was below the 7D. I think we might be able to see them as kind of parallels to the 6D/5D3 pairing but for APS-C. The 7D will be the "do all" model, and the 70D will offer something less at a lower price point, while still providing a tangible upgrade from the xxxD models.

As for the high MP model, personally I'd be happy if they just did a D800 like camera with EF mount on it. Preferably without the D800 AF fail.

I guess it would be nice to see something similar to the D800 but I think it should have some differences like for example, a better continuous shooting. And now that you mention the AF, I don't quite get the problem with the D800's AF, could you explain it to me please? Thanks :)

The D800 AF issue is widely reported around and getting off topic for here, but in short, there were many reports that AF points on one side were either malfunctioning or otherwise misaligned. This was giving incorrect focus relative to the middle which can't be user adjusted out.

I think there will be a 1Ds X or 1D-Xs with a higher MP count as well, I would say 70% ^^

I have a feeling that they would also release something to compete with the D800E's MP as well, perhaps a 5Ds Mark III... that would piss off the current MkIII owners though ^^, just a thought :P

I am still loving my working pair of 7D cameras, but would like to see what a 7D Mark II would be. A second memory card slot would be comforting, though I have not yet suffered a memory card malfunction, fortunately. It would be nice if some of the 1D X auto-focusing and high-ISO technology could trickle-down into a 7D Mark II; these would be more important to me than more MP or a higher frame rate.

The EOS M is a very interesting little camera, especially as it can use the latest Speedlites, including the ability to control the Speedlite menu with the touch-screen on the M, but I do like a viewfinder, so the M2 concept has my attention. (I have not yet purchased an EOS M.)

I am not sure what to think of a 1Ds X, though I reckon it might indicate that the APS-H sensor may be no more, with the 1D X being the only continuation of the 1D Marks I-IV line. I know some bird and wildlife photographers were hoping for the introduction of another 1D APS-H camera. I had recently found myself becoming a member of that group, as the supply of new 1D Mark IV cameras has dwindled.

I'm pretty sure a 70D will come; a 7D II is the most interesting one and the M model is quite uninteresting at the moment. A high MP count camera is nice on the market but too expensive for me if it's a 1D model.
